Instagram has already copied other major features from Snapchat, namely, the format for slideshow sharing, the creative tools that are overlaid in the app, the disappearance of Direct messages and so on.

Instagram continues with the quest of "borrowing" as many features from rival Snapchat as possible, and introduces filters to its integrated camera. If you select that, it will display the new eight filters that let you turn yourself and others into koala bears or bunnies, put on different tiaras, crowns, and nerd glasses. You can use face filters by opening the camera app and tapping a new icon on the bottom right corner.

Face filters for social media apps were brought to the mainstream by Snapchat after it bought Looksery, which pioneered the technology in 2015.

Instagram is also adding the "Rewind" feature for videos, which will be next to the "Boomerang" and "Hands-Free" option in Stories.

All of the updates are available as part of Instagram version 10.21 for iOS in the Apple App Store and for Android in Google Play. This function will automatically put the video in reverse, once you capture it you're all set to send it directly or add it to your story. Then, using the eraser brush, you can creatively reveal parts of your photo or video underneath.

If someone is watching your story, they can then tap the hashtag sticker or text to visit the hashtag page and explore related posts.

A lot of cool stories and videos can be made using Rewind feature, especially by people trying to create new video ideas.

More context can also be added to an Instagram Story starting today with hashtag stickers.

And finally, Instagram unveiled an eraser tool.

Of course, Snapchat filters will always have a special place in our hearts, but we have to admit, we're pretty excited to try these out.
