In the runaway hit 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun.!', the senior actress played an integral role as Mrs. Chaudhary, the mother of Nisha (Madhuri Dixit) and her elder sister Pooja (Renuka Shahane). The actress was admitted to Kokilaben hospital in Mumbai after she complained of chest pain last night.

Reema's funeral is likely to be performed later Thursday evening near her home in Andheri west, the family sources indicated.

Reema Lagoo and filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya were an unbeatable combination.

"She was complaining of chest pain so we took her to hospital around 1 am". Her professional acting started soon after finishing high school.

The fact that most of her on-screen children were her contemporaries with little age difference in itself tells a story of Lagoo's age-defying roles (in the reverse order). She passed away due to a heart attack around 3.15 AM. "It is shocking for all of us", said Vinay Waikul, her son-in-law. Starting out with television serials, she rose in prominence with the film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) where she played Juhi Chawla's mother. She played a negative character on the show, which was a far cry from the mother's roles that defined her film career. She has also worked in the Marathi theatre for over four decades. Her funeral will take place at 2pm in Mumbai. Saddened by her sudden demise.Heartfelt condolences to her family... Her last screen appearances were in the Marathi film Katyar Kaljat Ghusali and TV show Naamkaran. Reema Lagoo is survived by her daughter Mrunmayee, also an actress.
