Chelsea have made a £35m approach for Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to the Daily Star.

Arsenal signed the 23-year-old in a £12m deal from Southampton in 2010 but Oxlade-Chamberlain has failed to realise his talent at The Emirates.

The England worldwide has just one-year remaining on his Gunners contract, but has yet to sign a new one, leading to suggestions he could be on the move, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City all interested.

Antonio Conte has vented his frustration at the lack of signings this summer, despite securing four players so far, as the Blues boss knows he needs a much stronger squad if Chelsea are to compete on all fronts.

Oxlade-Chamberlain moved to the Emirates Stadium from Southampton in the summer of 2011 and has since racked up nearly two hundred appearances in all competitions, scoring twenty goals.

Oxlade-Chamberlain's future has been a subject of much discussion since the end of last season, with Liverpool, Manchester United and West Ham all being credited with an interest in the 23-year-old.

This is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that the the Gunners had rejected Chelsea's initial advances for the England global. He is on the way up and he will continue to move up because that potential is there.

'Personally, I think he is a hugely talented player.

'He is today very conscious of his qualities as well, which he was not always, and I personally believe he will be a very great player'.
