A BMW plunged 7 floors from a Texas parking garage last month, crashing front-first and leaving the driver with serious injuries.

Surveillance video released by the Austin Police Department shows a Chevy Tahoe driving on a street next to the garage.

The impact of the crash sent the BMW bouncing off the back of the Tahoe before it comes to a rest on its roof.

The dramatic scene was captured on video released Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, by Austin police. They say she hit the gas instead of the brake and plowed through the cable wires that form a barrier along the edge of the garage.

A woman inside the BMW 4 Series vehicle was seriously injured but is expected to survive.

"I was talking to my mom on speaker on my phone, and I heard all these loud noises and bangs", he said.

Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services responded to the parking garage at 508 Brazos Street around 8:30 a.m., after the vehicle broke through a barrier and plunged into an alley.

His SUV was caught by barrier wires, leaving the auto hanging off the side of the garage. The SUV moves out of the way before bystanders rush to help the driver of the BMW. The garage is now looking at redesigning its entire cable system.
