Athletics: Usain Bolt anchors Jamaican 4x100 to victory

Image result for Athletics: Coe's criticism of Gatlin's victory inhumane- Agent Agent of new 100m world champion Justin Gatlin has described the criticism on the American by the IAAF president Sebastian Coe as “inhumane”

Usain Bolt, the greatest sprinter in modern times, said he plans on retiring after running his final races this week at the world championships in London.

That was just six hundredths of a second slower than the USA's new world lead time, as Great Britain progressed as second fastest overall, with Bolt's Jamaica in third.

In other action, the Canadian women's 4x400m relay team finished sixth in the first heat with a time of three minutes, 28.47 seconds and was not able to secure a spot in Sunday's final. Gatlin came from behind to finish in 9.92 seconds with team United States of America sprinter Christian Coleman in second place at 9.94 seconds and Bolt was third with 9.95 seconds.

But could fans handle it if we found, for example, that as charming as Bolt, the best known and most popular athlete in the world, is, he was no better than the majority of his Jamaican team-mates when it came to using drugs?

"He (Bolt) has been an anchor in our sport for a decade and he has had an extraordinary influence".

At least Usain Bolt could cushion the blow of British mediocrity, the hype of his last 100 metres race on Saturday night reaching levels of Steve Cram suggesting that Farah is a 'one-man world super power'. "It is just one of those things, thank you to London for all your love and appreciation", said Bolt, who was treated by the capacity crowd and the organizers as a victor, receiving undimished cheers and applause from the adoring spectators and doing the lap of honor as if he had won.

Meanwhile, Bolt continued to give credit to 100m gold medalist Justin Gatlin for his perseverance in a hard atmosphere amongst the fans in London, where they booed the 25-year-old American throughout the sprint competition.

The Jamaican great crumpled on the track with a left leg injury as he was chasing gold in the 4x100-meter relay at the world championships. But the medal payouts are a pittance compared to decent endorsement deals: In 2016, Jamaica paid roughly $10,000 for each gold medal an athlete brought home. "All I knew was I wanted to give it everything I've got".

A few minutes after that, he stepped onto the track, kneeled down and kissed the finish line that he crossed in Lane 4.

In the second heat, Germany beat two-time defending champion Jamaica to qualify along with Brazil.

Indeed, it's noteworthy that Yohan Blake also ran in this fateful race, coming in fourth. We have been training that relay, there were some camps.

However Britain flew out of the blocks and their ideal changeovers gave them a great chance going into the final 100m as they led both the US and Jamaica.

Felix has won 14 medals at the world championships and can move up to 16 if she runs the 4x400 relay and the United States win medals in both events.

The Netherlands, with 200-meter champion Dafne Schippers running the second leg, qualified on time.
