Omarosa appearance at black journalist conference doesn't go well Black Journalists Turned Their Backs On Omarosa During A Panel On Police Brutality

An angry spat at the 2017 National Association of Black Journalists Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Friday led to the dissolution of a panel when White House aide Omarosa Manigault declined to answer any questions about the Trump administration.

According to a New York Times account of the 25-minute discussion, Manigault-Newman, director of communications for the White House Office of Public Liaison, walked off the stage after Gordon called their debate a "quagmire" that had "reached the point of diminished returns".

Gordon later asked Manigault about Trump's comments about "roughing up" suspects while detaining them, and Manigault claimed that police brutality is an important issue to the Trump administration, but refused to elaborate on "private" conversations with the president. "Next question." Trump had earlier said police officers should not be "nice" to people when they were detaining.

Attendees tweeted photos showing people standing with their backs turned to Manigault as she spoke.

When Gordon turned to the topic of Trump, Manigault-Newman objected.

"Are you suggesting that I just walk away?"

When Gordon again went back to talking about President Trump, Omarosa went off, and the two were essentially yelling in each other's faces.

"It was that she was added at the eleventh hour and it was unclear whether we would be able to discuss substantive issues regarding the administration and its policing policies", she told the Post. Manigault-Newman protested, suggesting later that Gordon was attempting to "walk all over" her "aggressively".

Then things escalated when Gordon tried pressing her with criticisms of President Trump and she accused him of "disrespecting" her family and not allowing her to tell her story.

Bounce TV's Ed Gordon ended up moderating the panel and had some heated exchanges with Manigault on stage, as both stood up at one point to confront the other. "Honestly it was a total mess but one that accurately shows the divide between the mindsets of the African American community in this country today", she said. When asked about her work with the Department of Justice on policing issues, Manigault-Newman responded, "Google me". She argued that Glover had invited her to talk about her personal experience with gun violence and that he was being dismissive.
