Cleveland Browns Lock Arms With Police During National Anthem

Cleveland Browns can only hope for the best with Hogan and Kessler 5 surprises on Steelers 53-man roster

T.J. Watt is the starter at right outside linebacker.

As expected, the Pittsburgh Steelers activated running back Le'Veon Bell to the 53-man roster on Saturday and he is now eligible to play in the regular season opener against the Cleveland Browns. Penalties once again haunted the Steelers when Sean Davis was called for pass interference, giving the Browns the ball at the three-yard line. While the offense will get most of the headlines for the Steelers in 2017, the barometer for their success will come from the performance of their defense, namely their front seven.

Bell's obvious early-game rust loomed large in a very un-Steeler-like performance of 43 rushing yards entering the two-minute warning. Three penalties for 35 yards gave the Browns the ball, and momentum, at the 29-yard line.

The Browns wouldn't go away, though.

Tight end Jesse James, his job challenged by the acquisition of newcomer Vance McDonald two weeks ago, caught two touchdown passes, and Antonio Brown had several big catches to salvage an offense that struggled throughout a 21-18 win over the Cleveland Browns.

Pittsburgh Steelers first-round draft pick T.J. Watt was raising eyebrows in his National Football League debut on Sunday afternoon against the Cleveland Browns.

Stephon Tuitt left the game with a biceps injury. A few plays later, Roethlisberger threaded his TD pass to James. Tyler Matakavich blocked Britton Colquit's punt. He started 6-7 passing, and scored his first career TD on a one-yard run.

Roethlisberger completed 24 of 36 passes for 263 yards, two scores and an interception. Bryant caught two of six passes targeted to him for 14 yards.

Browns fans are no stranger to disappointment and misery, but usually it takes a little longer than four plays into the season for that to kick in.
