Ancelotti is into the second of a three-year deal with the German champions, having succeeded Pep Guardiola in the summer of 2016.

Ancelotti oversaw a continuation of Bayern's domestic dominance in 2016/17, capturing a fifth straight Bundesliga title for the club in his first season at the helm after replacing Pep Guardiola.

Byaern were knocked out by eventual winners Real Madrid in the the Champison League quarter-finals last season and are currenlty sixth in the Bundesliga after losing to Hoffenheim on Saturday.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had voiced his displeasure with the Lewandowski interview with Spiegel magazine in which the striker also questioned the marketing worth of the club's pre-season Asian tour.

"Some days ago I heard that Carlo Ancelotti has already signed a contract for a club overseas starting in the winter", Basler told German talk show Sport 1.

Ancelotti has come under some pressure recently after a surprise defeat to Hoffenheim in their last game.
