'Wonder Woman arriving onto Blu-ray and DVD next week, The Hollywood Reporter has brought word that Patty Jenkins will return to direct Wonder Woman 2! While that means Warner Bros. didn't lock her down for a sequel beforehand, it hopefully means Jenkins was able to get a better deal. Oh, that's right. Jenkins is coming back to direct the sequel and reports are saying that she's the highest paid female director because of it.

"Wonder Woman 2" is now slated for release on December 13, 2019. The biggest detail about the final deal is that it will set a historic precedent, as Jenkins becomes the highest paid female director of all time. "Wonder Woman" earned $409 million in the United States and $813 million worldwide. Jenkins accomplished what all other Warner Brothers/DC filmmakers have failed to do, she managed to make a DC film that actually rivals the success of their Marvel competitors. Jenkins, meanwhile, was paid $1 million for the first film.

Patty Jenkins has closed a deal to direct the sequel to the summer hit Wonder Woman. The DCEU movie not only reigned over the box office this summer, it also shattered records - becoming the highest-earning origin movie by beating Man of Steel's box office collection, overtaking Deadpool's collections and many more.

But considering that the film sparked yet another debate about the issue of Hollywood's huge gender wage gap, many were speculating about whether Jenkins and Gadot could expect a pay rise in the follow-up.

The movie-maker revealed she was expecting a "mixed bag" from fans and critics, but the reaction to the superhero film has been overwhelmingly positive. Backend box office grosses are also reportedly included in the contract as well. The movie made over $800 million globally. And the proposed date for the film release is 13th December 2019.
