Chennai: Asserting that DMK was his prime enemy, sidelined AIADMK leader T T V Dhinakaran said that "his party" would not align with M K Stalin's DMK now or in the future.

The faction also moved the Madras High Court on plea over a floor test in the Tamil Nadu assembly.

The madras High Court ordered Tamil Nadu Assembly not to take floor test until September 20. Advocate Kapil Sibal, counsel for Stalin, had told the court that the state government meant to disqualify MLAs belonging to the DMK and those supporting Dhinakaran and then conduct a floor test in the Assembly. Hardening his stance, Dhinakaran, who had been demanding that chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami be replaced, has now threatened to topple the government, presumably with the help of DMK's 89 MLAs.

Very soon we'll hold another General Council meet of the party after getting the consent of General Secretary VK Sasikala, Vijila Sathyananth, a member of the TTV Dhinakaran-led faction said.

Dinakaran even swore to throw the ruling Tamil Nadu Government out of power.

A group of MPs and MLAs owing allegiance to the Dinakaran faction told the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners that according to the AIADMK by-laws, a general council meeting can be convened only by the general secretary or a person authorised by the top office-bearer. In other major decisions, the General Council altered the party's organisational structure to a collective leadership structure.

The withdrawal of support by the 19 rebel MLAs took a curious turn when the Speaker P Dhanapal issued show cause notices to all the rebels asking why they should not be disqualified from the membership of the House for writing to the Governor.

The rebel leader threatened to pull down the government "to save the AIADMK", the ruling party in Tamil Nadu that has been in turmoil since the death of its supremo J Jayalalithaa in December past year.

This comes after the TTV Dhinakaran camp had expressed their apprehensions that 19 MLAs would be disqualified by the Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker.

Sasikala, a close aide of Jayalalithaa, took over the reins after her mentor and chief minister's death.

"The short-cut adopted by Palanisamy is, he tried to have the floor test by Monday (apparently September 18) after disqualification (of his supporting MLAs)", he alleged.
