Spring has argued not liable to one tally of endeavored first-degree deliberate manslaughter by reason of mental malady or deformity.

Her trial is set to start in October.

A Wisconsin jury ruled late Friday a 15-year-old girl was mentally ill when she stabbed a classmate to appease a fictional character called "Slender Man".

For almost a week now, 16 jurors have been learning a lot about a character most likely never heard of until this case - Slender Man. She'll either be sentenced to a mental health facility or prison. She believed he would hurt her and her family if she didn't help commit murder.

He said Weier knew the stabbing was wrong because she twice declined to do it herself as originally planned. Weier and Geyser were arrested later that day and said they were walking to meet Slender Man in a northern Wisconsin forest.

"They knew this was wrong". But she said that if anyone could recover, it would be Weier.

Prosecutors decided against calling any witnesses of their own.

On Friday, 10 of 12 jurors - the minimum required by law - voted Weier mentally ill, the AP reported.

For the first time, a detective Wednesday shared the victim's account of what happened the day two Waukesha girls stabbed their friend almost to death.
