A seven-day prison sentence was imposed to a mother from MI because she refused to implement a judge's order to vaccinate her son.

Appearing at her hearing at the Oakland County Circuit Court, Bredow told Judge Karen McDonald that she took full responsibility for her actions, but that vaccinations go against her beliefs.

Her ex-husband, who wanted his son vaccinated, went to the judge after Bredow would not vaccinate the boy.

In response, McDonald reminded Bredow that she agreed to the immunizations.

Her ex-husband, the boy's father, has been awarded temporary custody in order to get his son vaccinated.

A mother who refused to vaccinate her child has been sentenced to seven days in jail for failing to comply with the court's orders.

Bredow, who's Twitter profile was private but included a link to MI for Vaccine Choice, has faced mixed responses from Twitter users.

A MI mother will spend a few days in prison after she declined to get her son vaccinated. Bredow has said she is not opposed to vaccines, but she believes it was the right decision for her family.

This is why anti-vaccination parents are choosing to homeschool their children, according to President of the National Vaccine Information Centre Barbara Fisher.

Ms Bredow said after reading books she applied for a waiver, which the state of MI allows for "religious convictions or other objections to immunisation".

The mother told the The Washington Post that she's not against vaccination, although it is against her religious beliefs.

"It wasn't until they started grouping them together that I backed off of doing vaccines", she told WXYZ. She also said vaccinating a child is a parent's "personal choice".

"It's clear to me that you don't care about orders, even if you agree to them, which you did".

Accordingly, Bedrow was condemned to serve seven days in prison.

Bredow was handcuffed in court and escorted out of the room by deputies on site.
