The Black Stars have seen their chances of qualifying for next year's World Cup in Russian Federation fade after a goalless draw against Uganda in Kampala on Saturday.

Ghana, in third on six points, need Egypt to lose against Congo, Uganda to fail to beat the Red Devils next month, and to beat the Pharaohs in their final qualifier to reach a fourth consecutive World Cup.

However, a number of missed chances from both sides and poor officiating meant neither side could find a breakthrough.

Meanwhile, the government on Wednesday gave Shs 1billion to FUFA to facilitate the Cranes in the remaining games including tomorrows and the one slated for 6th November as Uganda take on Congo.

Even with the faint chance, the team believe victory against the Cranes of Uganda could restore that hope and pride after the Ugandans held Ghana to a 1-1 draw in their opening game of the World Cup qualifying campaign in Tamale.

Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah has bestowed the armband on the Foxes star after injuries to regular skipper Asamoah Gyan and Christian Atsu, who had originally been lined up to deputise.

Many Ghanaians have expressed regret over the quality of officiating with many asking for a replay of the game.

Richard Ofori got a hand to a cross releasing his side on a counter that ended with Partey firing just wide.

Another key moment saw Daniel Amartey's headed goal from a free-kick ruled out for offside, although replays suggested that strike also should have stood.

Ghana will now face a nervous wait as Egypt host Congo on Sunday, where a draw will end the team's chances of making it to Russian Federation.

The spilled ball fell onto the patch of on-rushing Raphael Dwamena who tucked home from close range but the FC Zurich ace was shockingly flagged offside.
