In her first public comments over the shooting at a country music concert that left 58 dead and almost 500 wounded, Ms Marilou Danley said she had hoped for a quiet future with Stephen Paddock, who killed himself before police could get to him.

The U.S. source said Danley was not under arrest but that the Federal Bureau of Investigation hoped she would consent to be interviewed voluntarily.

Suspected gunman Stephen Paddock fired into the crowd of more than 22,000 from across the street at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino as country star Jason Aldean was performing.

The rampage by Stephen Craig Paddock killed at least 59 people and injured 527, some from gunfire and some from a chaotic escape.

The girlfriend of the gunman behind the deadliest mass shooting in modern us history denied Wednesday having any prior knowledge of the massacre.

The first photos and footage of the Las Vegas shooter's hotel room have emerged.

He said Paddock took his own life moments before a SWAT team entered the22 room. Lollapalooza draws hundreds of thousands of music fans every year to Grant Park.

He was divorced twice during the 1970s and '80s, but had a long relationship with a woman from the Philippines, who is a citizen of Australia.

The presence of other hotel guests in the rooms surrounding Paddock's meant that police couldn't return fire from the ground, he explained.

What is known, however, is that after Paddock checked in to his suite on Thursday, he unloaded more than 10 large bags containing some 23 firearms - some of which modified for full-auto capabilities - loads of ammunition and other devices. The music festival featured Chance the Rapper, Muse, Lorde and Blink-182.

Investigators trying to establish the motive for the attack have had little more to chase than hints and shadows. "We are all humans and we are all Americans and its time to start acting like it and stand together as ONE!" He had no known criminal record and nearly no close friends, social media presence or other clear connections to the broader world.

"Over the last 24 hrs I have gone through lots of emotions", he said in a message posted on his official Instagram account Tuesday.

"There's all kinds of things that surprise us in each one of these events". "We have a lot of work to do". In total, across three locations, 47 firearms had been recovered, officials said.

Two weeks before the shooting, travel records show Marilou Danley, who lived in Memphis between 1991 and 2007, left the country using her Australian passport to travel to her home country of the Philippines.

The Vegas massacre is the bloodiest attack in the United States since another lone wolf stormed a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida previous year killing 49. "Only Marilou can maybe help", she said.
