The United States, meanwhile, staged another show of force meant to deter any North Korean aggression by flying two B-1B supersonic bombers Tuesday night from an air base in the US territory of Guam to the South for drills with South Korean fighter jets.

A statement from FireEye said: "North Korea linked hackers are among the most prolific nation-state threats, targeting not only the US and South Korea but the global financial system and nations worldwide".

The air-to-ground missile maneuvers near the South Korean coast were intentionally scheduled for North Korea's communist party's anniversary.

Those are the findings of a poll by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, as tensions between the adversaries escalate and North Korea comes closer to its goal of having a nuclear-tipped missile that could strike the continental United States.

North Korea's foreign minister told Russian journalists that Donald Trump lit the "fuse of war" when the US president labeled Kim Jong Un as "Rocket Man" in a recent speech at the United Nations. In May the ministry said North Korea had hacked into Seoul's military intranet but did not say what had been leaked.

FireEye experts said that they have yet to observe North Korean hackers using any kind of specialised malware to "compromise or manipulate" industrial control systems.

The US military said in a separate statement it conducted drills with Japanese fighters after the exercise with South Korea, making it the first time US bombers have conducted training with fighters from both Japan and South Korea at night.

Trump hosted a discussion on Tuesday on options to respond to any North Korean aggression or, if necessary, to prevent Pyongyang from threatening the United States and its allies with nuclear weapons, the White House said in a statement. It could also breach the latest United Nations sanctions barring the North's textile exports if the country seeks outbound shipments.

Lee, who didn't specify his sources, said the plans allegedly stolen by the North include operations for tracking the movement of the North's leadership, isolating their hideouts, executing air assaults and follow-up actions for securing and eliminating targets, which would obviously include North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

A South Korean lawmaker claims North Korean hackers stole joint U.S.

The North's official media touted the party's byungjin policy - which pushes for simultaneous development of nuclear weapons and the economy - and added that military power was "the guarantee for victory".

A spokesman from South Korea's Defense Ministry declined to comment, saying the information is classified. Trump said. "That's the way it works".
