Diamondbacks ace Zack Grienke also picked up his fourth-consecutive Gold Glove after not making an error all season and conceding just five steals. This was Arenado's fifth consecutive award.

For 4 straight seasons from 2011-2014, Barnhart was rated by Baseball America the best defensive catcher in the organization and following the 2011 season received Minor League Baseball's prestigious Rawlings Gold Glove Award for catchers. He won his first Gold Glove with the Braves in 2012 and earned the award with the Cardinals in 2015 before signing with the Cubs before the 2016 season.

But as Tuesday's revealing of the Gold Glove winners proved, the Lincoln Southeast graduate can still work the glove.

Goldschmidt, 30, captured his third Gold Glove distinction to cap a stellar season that puts him firmly in the MVP conversation. Hosmer is tied with the Dodgers' Adrian Gonzalez for most Gold Gloves among active first basemen.

Heyward is the second outfielder in franchise history to win multiple gold gloves, joining two-time victor Andre Dawson (1987-88).

Barnhart, 26, became only the third catcher in Reds history to win Major League Baseball's top award for defensive excellence, joining Johnny Edwards (1963, 1964) and 10-time victor Johnny Bench (1968-1977). Hosmer also had a streak of 120 games without being charged with an error, the longest streak by a Royals first baseman, according to Elias Sports Bureau. He led all left fielders with an ultimate zone rating of 11.5 and was third in defensive runs saved (9). The duo both won the award at their respective positions in 2014.

The Royals have won a total of 32 Rawlings Gold Gloves in franchise history, with 13 different players honored.

Winners are determined using a combination of advanced metrics (25 percent) and coach and manager voting (75 percent).
