The next-generation iPad may also feature slimmer bezels, and of course, better processing power. Production problems and supply constraints with its OLED panels mean they'll be limited to the iPhone through 2018.

The sources, speaking to Bloomberg, claim that at least one iPad model with around a 10.5-inch display is in the pipeline, and that it will feature Face ID.

The removal of the Home button would allow for much thinner bezels around an iPad display. It's the tenth birthday edition of Apple's smartphone, and made some major changes - including ditching the home button and fingerprint scanner in favour of on-screen controls, facial recognition tech to unlock the device, and a new design with an nearly edge-to-edge screen.

Tablet sales have taken a 17 percent decline globally over the last three years and Apple certainly felt it.

Now the iPad may be having something of a comeback. Still, the iPad has brought Apple $4.8 billion of revenue in the past quarter alone. However, Apple has confirmed they still see the iPad as the future for mainstream computing uses and business users.

Another feature similar to iPhone X is facial recognition. Hence, the screen will be more immersive.

The new version of the upgraded iPad is unlikely to include an OLED screen that provides crisp sharper images and colour.

The iPhone X is Apple's first handset to feature Face ID facial recognition, but since this handset is very popular, it is only a matter of time until its strongest feats find their way to other Apple products. Also, the feature is limited to Apple customers in USA right now.

The iPad for 2018 should have a 10.5-inch screen size and do away with Touch ID in favour of the new Face ID security system.

Like the iPhone X, the new iPad is also expected to include a faster processor and a custom Apple graphics processing unit.
