"The Government of Pakistan has chose to arrange a meeting of Commander Kulbhushan Jhadav with his wife, in Pakistan, purely on humanitarian grounds", foreign office spokesperson Mohammad Faisal said in a statement.

A Note Verbale, a diplomatic note that is drafted in third person and is unsigned, with this regard has been sent to the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.

Pakistan government has made a decision to allow former Indian naval officer, Kulbhushan Jadhav, who is on a death row for espionage, to meet his wife on humanitarian grounds. It repeated its charge that Jadhav is aRAW agent and was apprehended by Pakistan law enforcement agencies on March 3, 2016 after he illegally crossed over into Pakistan.

This comes days after the Pakistan Army, while talking about the mercy plea of alleged Indian Jadhav, said the officer's petition is now in its final stage and also that "good news will be delivered soon".

India had many times requested a Pakistani visa for Jadhav's mother, Avantika, who wished to meet her son in Pakistan prison.

In an official press release, Pakistan has said that the meeting will be allowed within its territory.

India has denied that Jadhav is a serving navy personnel and also rejected Pakistan's claim that he was working for RAW and involved in spying. Pakistan will submit counter memorial on or before December 13, 2017.

"He confessed before a Magistrate and the Court that he was tasked by RAW to plan, coordinate and organize espionage, terrorist and sabotage activities aimed at destabilizing and waging war against Pakistan", the statement went on to say. On October 11, Pakistan had designated former Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani to the ICJ to be its Judge in Jadhav's case. However, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) stopped Pakistan from carrying out the punishment on May 18.
